Basic Gift Wrapping Tips
Here are a few helpful gift wrapping tips to get you started.
- Have your gift wrapped and all your materials gathered. That way you won’t waste time searching for anything while you’re busy decorating your gift wrap.
- Use what you have. Your sewing basket can be a treasure trove for pretty embellishments. Look for things like ribbons, string, ric rac, rhinestones, sequins, beads, and buttons.
- You can fix a wrinkled ribbon, by taking it through a curling iron on the lowest heat setting. Test on a little piece first.
- I like to use tacky glue for this project because it works so well with the different materials and dries clear. But you can use most glues you have on hand.
Make this felt and ribbon ornament on cardstock or construction paper and turn them into a Christmas postcard. Write your holiday wishes on the back. Handmade season’s greetings!
Gift Wrap Variation

If you want to get the kids involved and make it even easier and quicker, try a felt and ribbon Christmas tree variation.
Use a bit of green felt cut into the shape of a Christmas tree. This is as simple as cutting a triangle shape. Decorate with ribbon scraps and a sequin star on top. Draw a small square on the bottom as the tree trunk.
