Hi there, I’m Deborah Green. Owner and creator of That Craft Site. I do all my crafting in a plant-filled home where I live with my husband, our ten-year-old son, and our beloved old cat.

Formerly NY, currently living in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
As a blogger since the early 2000s, craft book author, professional crafter, and a huge plant lover, I first created the Mod and Mint blog to help people with their indoor plants, and now I found my way back to my happy crafting space here on That Craft Site.
Let me share my life-long love of DIY and tell you about all my favorite crafts. Best of all, I’ll show you how to make them yourself!
Nice to meet you!
Born and raised in Amsterdam in the mid-1970s. A mix of a creative Indonesian mother, and a more analytical Dutch father.
I grew up with my mom always behind the sewing machine, the humming sound became the soundtrack of my childhood. Going through her tins filled with buttons and sequins were my treasure hunts. Did not like having to stand still for my mom to pin her muslin fabric on me.
I wrote and crafted my way through college. Always behind my own sewing machine in between classes, and writing for nationwide music magazines as a side hustle. What’s up 90s hiphop?
I was a content creator in the internet industry during the time of the dot.com boom. Or the dot.com bubble if you will. It was a time of exploration and fun. Anything was possible and worth a try. I started my first blog and online shop nearly 20 years ago.
In 2007 I moved to New York. It was there that I started creating full-time. I sewed, but also explored crafts like embroidery, needle felting, weaving, and plaster sculpting. I became an Etsy Top Seller and I wrote two craft books, 100 Applique Motifs, and Your Sharpie Style which has been released by William Morrow Harper Collins.
After almost a decade in New York, I returned to the Netherlands, ready to do more crafting!
