DIY Cupcake Liner Wreath Tutorial

I love a simple and quick craft. And this cupcake liner wreath is definitely one of those.

Anyone can do this. It’s a fun project for adults, and kids if they’re old enough to use scissors and pins.

The bright-colored cupcake liners I used, make this wreath perfect for a spring or summer party. How cute would it look as wall decor on Easter or a birthday party? If you use red and green liners, or gold, you can turn it into a Christmas liner wreath.

Let me tell you what I discovered. Not all cupcake liners are created equal. Some are very thin, others are made from heavier paper. You can make these wreaths with either, but the thinner ones tear more easily. The thicker ones are easier to work with.

How to Make a Cupcake Liner Wreath

Supplies You’ll Need:

Styrofoam wreath base
Cupcake liners (assorted colors)
Straight pins
Piece of ribbon or yarn for hanging
Scissors

I used a 4.6 inch styrofoam wreath, but you can go larger. As long as the liners can wrap around it.

Step 1: Prepare Your Cupcake Liners

Start by preparing your cupcake liners for the wreath. Take a cupcake liner and fold it in half.

Carefully cut out the bottoms, leaving the sides intact.

Next, make a straight cut through one of the sides of each liner. This will allow you to easily wrap them around the wreath form.

Step 2: Wrap the Liners Around the Wreath

Now attach the cupcake liners to the wreath. Take one of the prepared liners and wrap it around the wreath. Secure and pin it in place on the back of the styrofoam with a straight pin. Overlap the edges of the next liner slightly to create a layered effect.

Step 3: Repeat and Layer

Continue wrapping and layering the cupcake liners around the wreath base, alternating colors wherever you like. Cover the entire surface of the wreath.

Step 4: Last Liner

When you get to the last liner it gets a little tricky. You want it to go over the last liner you put on, and under the very first one you attached. To make this easier, loosen up the pin that holds the first liner in place. This gives you some wiggle room to get that last liner in place without standing out too much. Check if all pins are secure.

Step 5: Add a Ribbon to Hang

Attach a piece of ribbon to the back and it’s ready to hang!
