Let’s make some easy inspirational quote wall art! Start by gathering those old magazines, a blank canvas, and pick your favorite words of wisdom.
Choose your favorite quote. Or it could be a line from a book, a funny pun, or maybe a famous saying.
This is a simple and fun project to make with kids. They can make their own if they’re old enough to handle simple craft materials like paper, scissors, and glue.

Quote Collage Step-by-Step Tutorial
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Old magazines
- Canvas (or sturdy paper)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Paint (optional)
Step 1: Find and Cut Out Letters
Flip through your old magazines to find letters that spell out your chosen quote. Look for a variety of fonts, colors, and sizes to use. Cut them out.
Advertisements usually have a large variety of fonts and colors, so don’t skip over them!

Step 2: Prepare Your Canvas Background
You can either paint the canvas background to create a colorful backdrop, or glue on a piece of wrapping paper to serve as your base background. Choose whichever option appeals to you and allows your quote to stand out.

Step 4: Position and Glue Letters
Once you have cut out all the letters, experiment with different arrangements on your canvas background. Play around with the placement of the letters until you’re happy with the overall composition.

Step 5: Glue the Letters
Glue the letters in place. Press down firmly and make sure that the letters stick securely.

Step 6: Add Finishing Touches
Ok, so I must admit something. After I glued on the letters, I had a bit of regret on how I positioned them. I shouldn’t have lined them up like that, but centered them as how I laid them out before getting busy with the glue.
It might have worked and look better if I had a larger D at the end of Good. To balance out the empty space in the top corner, I added a sticker of a pink hibiscus flower. It helped a little.
If you need to balance out the overall look, or to further personalize your collage, add embellishments such as stickers, or drawings.
